Gauhati University, Assam, invites applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Contractual Faculty in the Department of Geography. The position is for the PG Diploma course in Remote Sensing & GIS, with an initial appointment of 6 months. Educational Qualification:

• A Master’s degree or M. Tech in Geography, Geoinformatics, Geospatial Science, or Remote Sensing from a recognized university is required.
• A Ph.D. in Geoinformatics or a related area is preferred.

Experience:

• Relevant industry experience in Geoinformatics, especially in the application of geospatial technologies, spatial data analysis, and GIS software.
• Practical experience in real-world projects and collaborations with industry partners is highly desirable.

Skills:

• Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, ENVI) and remote sensing applications.
• Experience handling Total Station, DGPS, drones, etc.
• Expertise in spatial data analysis and integrating technology into teaching and research.
• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, and familiarity with machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques applied to geospatial data.
• Experience with data visualization, modeling, and the ability to teach and apply advanced analytical methods in Geoinformatics.

Job Responsibilities:

• Teaching courses related to Geoinformatics and GIS.
• Mentoring and guiding students in their academic and research work.
• Engaging in research activities aligned with the department’s academic goals.

Salary:

• Rs. 38,000/- per month (Fixed)
