The Home & Political Department, Government of Assam, is inviting applications for various positions in the field of law. Here are the details for the different posts:

1. Public Prosecutor:
   • Number of Posts: 26
   • Scale of Pay: Pay Band Rs. 65,000-112,000 + Grade Pay 18,500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
   • Educational Qualification: A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in India.
   • Essential Experience: Must have practiced as a regular Advocate for at least 8 years, including practice before the High Court, mainly in criminal cases.
2. Special Public Prosecutor:
   • Number of Posts: 3
   • Scale of Pay: Pay Band Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay 17,500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
   • Educational Qualification: A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in India.
   • Essential Experience: Must have practiced as a regular Advocate for at least 7 years, including practice before the High Court, primarily in criminal cases.
3. Additional Public Prosecutor:
   • Number of Posts: 88
   • Scale of Pay: Pay Band Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay 17,500 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
   • Educational Qualification: A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in India.
   • Essential Experience: Must have practiced as an Advocate for at least 7 years, including practice before the High Court, mainly in criminal cases.
4. Assistant Public Prosecutor:
   • Number of Posts: 185
   • Scale of Pay: Pay Band Rs. 30,000 – 1,10,000 + Grade Pay 16,900 + 30% Special Allowance of Basic Pay and other allowances as admissible.
   • Educational Qualification: A graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university in India.
   • Essential Experience: Must have practiced as an Advocate for at least 7 years, including practice before the High Court, mainly in criminal cases.

Age Limit:

• Candidates should be between 21 and 38 years of age as of January 1, 2023. There are age relaxations for certain categories:
  • 5 years for SC/ST candidates (up to 43 years)
  • 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates (up to 41 years)
  • 10 years for Persons with benchmark disability (PwBD)
  • The maximum age for Ex-Servicemen is 50 years for Un-reserved category, with relaxations for OBC/MOBC and SC/ST candidates.

• Applications can be sent by Speed Post, Registered Post, or by Hand between 11:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. on all working days.
• The envelope should be clearly marked with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF Public Prosecutor/Special Public Prosecutor/Additional Public Prosecutor/Assistant Public Prosecutor.”
• The complete application should reach the office on or before November 30, 2023. Separate applications must be submitted for each post.
