Assam Career : India Post is inviting applications from eligible candidates for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) [Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevaks] in different offices of the Department of Posts in 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must have passed the Secondary School Examination (10th standard) with passing marks in Mathematics and English from a recognized board.
• The applicant must have studied the local language at least up to the 10th standard.

Additional Criteria:

• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Ability to ride a bicycle.
• Adequate means of livelihood.

Job Roles & Responsibilities

Branch Post Master (BPM):

• Handling day-to-day postal operations and services of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB).
• Marketing and promotion of postal products and services.
• Ensuring smooth operations in single-handed Branch Post Offices (B.O.).
• Managing mail conveyance, mail delivery, and other assigned duties.
• Must reside in the village where the Branch Post Office is located.

Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM):

• Sale of stamps and stationery.
• Delivery of mail, deposits, payments, and IPPB transactions.
• Assisting BPM in postal operations and marketing activities.
• Required to reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the concerned Post Office.

Dak Sevak:

• Handling the sale of stamps and stationery.
• Delivery of mail and assistance in post office operations.
• Required to reside within the delivery jurisdiction of the assigned Post Office.
