POWERGRID is engaged in the power transmission business with a mandate for planning, coordination, supervision, and control over the complete Inter-State Transmission System and operation of national & regional power grids. The company operates approximately 1,79,594 km of Transmission Lines with 280 Sub-Stations (as of January 15, 2025) and transmits around 50% of the total power generated in India. Additionally, POWERGRID owns & operates about 1,00,000 km of telecom network, covering 3,000+ locations and 500 cities across India. POWERGRID has consistently been profitable, with a gross turnover of Rs. 46,913 Crores and a profit after tax of Rs. 15,573 Crores in the financial year 2023-24.
