The Silchar Medical College & Hospital serves as the primary referral hospital for the southern part of Assam and plays a crucial role in the healthcare system of the entire Barak Valley. Given its strategic geographic location, it extends medical services to neighboring states such as Mizoram, North Tripura, West Manipur, and South Meghalaya. Established in 1959, Silchar Medical College at Ghungoor, Silchar, has been instrumental in providing quality healthcare and medical education.
